The spring clergy gathering of the Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic States was held at the Church of the Ascension May 1-May 2, 2023. The evening of May 1st started with a shared meal at the Lazy Dog Restaurant in Centreville, VA. A hardy gathering of priests and bishop was a roaring success. Our host parish, Church of the Ascension priest Fr. Michael Weaver kindly received us and lead us through the Daily offices and Mass. Thank you, Fr. Weaver, and the Church of the Ascension. The Clergy planning process for 2024 developed some changes to calendar. Easter next year is March 31st. Taking advantage of an early Easter the clergy spring clericus is scheduled with a Easter Retreat rather than a Lenten Retreat. The Retreat is scheduled for April 20th and the Clericus will commence April 18-19, 2024. The Canon Missioner, Canon Peter Geromel is the point of contact and retreat leader. Camp is scheduled for the week of June 23rd-29th. Bishop Lerow led a discussion on Pre-Marital counselling based on “The Form of Solemnization of Matrimony” with additional training on Communication tools for couples both Pre-Marital and Marital.
Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic States Synod was scheduled for June 13-15.
The Fall Clericus will be held in conjunction with the Fall Retreat rather than an Pre-Advent Retreat. The Clericus will be September 19th-20th and the Retreat Commencing the evening of the 20th-21st. The point of contact and retreat leader is The Rev. Timothy Weiss with an initial theme on the Ember season.
